This is My Beloved Son: Hear Him

This is My Beloved Son: Hear Him

Deuteronomy 18:1–20:20; Luke 9:28-50; Psalm 73:1-28; Proverbs 12:10

Stop Talking and Hear Him
And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering. And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias: who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem. But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him. And it came to pass, as they departed from him, Peter said unto Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias: not knowing what he said. While he thus spake, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: and they feared as they entered into the cloud. And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him. And when the voice was past, Jesus was found alone. And they kept it close, and told no man in those days any of those things which they had seen.
 – Luke 9:29-36

I would love to have seen Peter’s face. I am sure that when he first saw God’s glory on Jesus as He stood alongside Moses and Elias, he had a wave of fear. So, he did what we do. He just started talking. And the Bible says that he did so, not knowing what he said. But immediately, God intervened and said those beautiful Words, “This is my beloved Son: hear HIM!” God reminds Peter to hear and follow Jesus! That is great instruction for us, too. Don’t listen to others or even your own thoughts if they conflict with what God has said.

When A Prophet Speaks
And the LORD said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken. I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him. But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die. And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken? When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.
 – Deuteronomy 18:17-22

Good instruction about the Words God gives to His prophets and those He doesn’t. I have a few thoughts about this topic. In this time, we have seen people come against prophets not for speaking a wrong word but for repenting because they feel the word was wrong. People are mad that someone repented. So they liked the word, but they despise the repentance. What? We are called to love one another, not to destroy a brother for what is going on in their heart and feel they need to repent. If you feel the unction to tear down someone for repentance, then that comes from the accuser of the brethren. If you have partnered with him please check yourself! The enemy seeks to divide us!!!

His Counsel Guides Me
Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand. Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.
 – Psalm 73:23-26

That I May Declare All Thy Works
But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.
 – Psalm 73:28

Be Kind to Your Animals
A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel
. – Proverbs 12:10

This verse shows how God feels about the animals He created. He said to regard the life of your animals.

Regard – Protective interest, care, attention, and consideration
